Step 2 Identify your coaching level Whether you are coaching Under 9 year olds for the first time or taking a representative provincial team for the second time, you will need guidelines. Utilise the ‘Coaching pathway’ and ‘What I want and where am I as a coach’ charts. These charts will assist in guiding you in participation and coaching parameters and expectations. Step 4 Base level online courses to practical coaching courses All coaches need a base to start from, it is highly recommended (and compulsory at some coaching levels) to complete the base level coaching online. *PLEASE NOTE: The below courses cannot be completed from a smartphone ‘STARTING TO COACH COURSE’ - FREE - With support from Sport NZ, Touch New Zealand has worked with the Inspire Group to create an online coaching course to take participants through the fundamentals of coaching in a fun and interactive environment. The course is free and accessible at any time and takes approximately 30-45 minutes to complete. * Please note: Utilise website to complete if your smartphone does not have flash player ‘SAFETY NET COACHING COURSE’ - FREE - With support from Sport NZ, Touch New Zealand has worked with the Inspire Group to create an online coaching course to take participants through a code of ethics for coaches and basic safety concepts for coaching. The course is free and accessible at any time and takes approximately 30-45 minutes to complete.Enter your details below to register for the course; you will then be automatically redirected to the course content. * Please note: Utilise website to complete if your smartphone does not have flash player ‘TOUCH MODULE REFEREE COURSE’ - $10 – This course is designed for anyone who is wishing to learn more about the game of Touch. Understanding the base rules and base referee knowledge is a great way to give you an edge. Content includes: Simplified Playing Rules for Touch; Basic Playing Rule Application; Basic Referee Equipment; Basic Referee; Skills and Procedures; Basic Referee Signals; Online multi-choice questions to test your knowledge of this course Touch NZ are in the process of developing more online courses, watch this space.
